TN: 2007 Quinta do Crasto Vinha Maria Teresa Douro red

Post by Rune EG »

Decanted 7 hrs (will possibly try slightly shorter with the next bottle). Deep purple colour. Wonderful complex aroma of the typical Douro-combination of berries/oak/minerals, all well integrated. Also, some floral notes. Full body. Tiny bit weak at start, but after a few seconds it is powerful and elegant in a fantastic way. Blackcurrant, minerals, oak and nicely subdued tannins. The tannins are so well integrated, and it is very seldom it is being experienced in that manner. Great complexity and well-structured and well-balanced sweetness/acidity. Long marvelous aftertaste. 96 pts.

I opened a bottle for dinner with friends earlier this week. I agree 100% with your note. This is a baby still and an amazing wine. I decanted mine about 4 hours and it was better off for that. If I had more heads up I would have decanted even longer.
