TN: 2004 Quinta do Crasto Old Vine Reserva

Post by Felix Warners »

Had this tonight in a blind tasting with some friends.

Quinta do Crasto 2004 Reserva
Nice dark colour.
Not a lot going on in the nose. Loads of oak and vanilla, made me think of a wine from the new world.
Very polished in the mouth. Soft mouthfeel with a good concentration. Again a lot of wood, some sweet fruit. 87points

Not a bad wine but certainly not something I would buy myself.

I really like this wine. Have bought cases from 1997 thru to 2004. Yes the style has changed quite a bit, to its current style, which is very new world fruit forward. Look for a price jump due to its 95 pt rating from WS for the 2005 vintage, although 04 earned 94 pts.
