Germany - Prowein 2008 - Book launch of "Portugal und seine Weine"

ViniPortugal collaborates with a German Publisher in the launch of a prestigious book on Portuguese wines “Portugal und seine Weine” is the title of a beautiful new reference book on Portuguese wines on sale in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The book launch took place during the Prowein Fair in Dusseldorf, which ran from March 18 to 20, 2007.
“Portugal und seine Weine” is a collaboration between ViniPortugal and German publishing house, GRÄFE UND UNZER VERLAG, and is part of the HALLWAG series on winegrowing. The authors are well-known wine writers Wolfgang Hubert and David Schwarzwälder, and the illustrations are by photographer Michael Schinharl.
Hubert and Schwarzwälder traversed the Portuguese wine regions visiting producers, wine companies and winemakers. The result covers the many aspects of Portuguese winegrowing: its denominated regions, vine growing and wine making techniques, indigenous grape varieties and their characteristics and the wines they produce, with their inimitable aromas and flavours. The publication also explores the relation between Portuguese wines and the diverse range of tasty dishes in regional cuisine, an added bonus to Portugal’s wine tourism.
This hardcover volume of the HALLWAG series appeals to everyone with an interest in Portugal and its wines, be they novice or connoisseur. ViniPortugal’s involvement with this initiative is part of its campaign to raise the profile of Portuguese wines abroad, specifically in Germany as it is one of the three markets described in the Porter Report as having the highest potential for growth with Portuguese companies. The other two markets are the United States and the United Kingdom.

How does this book compare to Charles Metcalfe & Kathryn Mc Whirter's book, which was released last year (in English, of course)?

I haven't got both books yet (because I do not understand german, the “Portugal und seine Weine” book I will no be able to read anyway :)), but I'm expecting to purchase a copy of Metcalf's in the near future. I believe both books are not available in the portuguese market.

I understand booth books got some support from ViniPortugal, maybe some kind of sponsor, but of course since they were written by different authors, also with different market focus, my guess is it should make one book different from the other.

Shall I have the opportunity to meet a ViniPortugal's representative in the near future, I would bring them Jan-Tore Egge's question :)
