TN: 2004 Real Companhia Velha Evel Grande Escolha

This was lovely. Dusty black cherries, plums and a slight chalky minerality that hinted at schist. Fantastic grip; very food friendly. Never ponderous or boring. Nice layers of complexity that really held interest. Not the biggest Douro wine, but a svelte beauty that impresses by its refinement. Not bad for $24.

Yes. I've been impressed with what Jerry Luper has been doing lately at Real Companhia Velha. Good to great wines and reasonable prices.
