1994 Quinta do Noval LBV Port

1994 Quinta do Noval LBV Port

Drank on 09 October 2008 at The Bell offline. Decanted several hours earlier, there was something not quite right with this bottle. It was disjointed and gave off aromas of burnt tyre rubber. Not rated.

A very disappointing bottle, one of the one's I brought along as I keep a stash (over there) to keep my hands off them. This has always been my favorite LBV of all time. I have snuck this into 1994 VP horizontals and it has never been detected. This one was way off.

I was bummed about this bottle as I had heard so many good things about it and was really looking forward to seeing how it was. Oh well, I'm sure there will be another time.

I've opened a handful of the '94 Noval LBVs in half bottles and have been disappointed. There wasn't anything wrong with them, just that they were so delicious and structured when young that I expected more. Of course they could be going through a dumb phase, waning primary fruit but not the degree of maturity and complexity to round it out.

Perhaps its best for me to wait it out for a few more years.

Cheers..................Mahmoud.

I'm not sure. All my remaining bottles are "off site" at this point. I consumed the last of what I had here at home and this one, was the first that was not good. It was not like your bottle though, this one was clearly and badly flawed.
