ok taking the plunge on 2007 VP

Post by Paul_B »

Well,

I just committed to buy 1 case of .....Grahams from LCBO/Vintages.
I will probably buy another case of something... still undecided probably from SAQ later this year. Maybe some singles of various labels or maybe one label again... we will see what turns up as the choice seems limited so far in my market despite the 50+ bottled options.

This will be my son's vintage as he is a 2007.

cheers
Paul

Paul,

Would you please share with us what price you paid for the Graham's 2007 VP?

My 2007 VP orders (so far, combined with the ones that my father ordered) are:

Dow's (case of 6)
Fonseca (case of 6)
Graham's (2 case of 6)
Quarles Harris (case of 6)
Smith Woodhouse (case of 6)
Taylor's (case of 6)
Warre (case of 6)

For me this is quite a lot of bottles VP of one vintage, given the prices and the fact that I'm not drinking VP on a daily basis. On the other hand, my youngest son was born in 2007, so as I am hoping to enjoy a lot of these ports when they've matured (as long as I'm still around of course), I am also hoping to leave some wonderful bottles (or maybe a full case) to him to enjoy during this century! :D

Gerwin,

Glad to see you are thinking ahead for your children. I wish someone would have done that for me then I would have had some nice mature VP's to get me started.

Hi Andy,

Yep, I am at least trying so. In my case, it would have been quite impossible to have put away something from my birthyear, since it was a dreadfull year (wine- and portwise), being 1973.

On the other hand, I have been lucky enough that my wife is from 1977 (another opportunity to maybe try to pick up some bottles of that vintage) :D :D and that my father's from 1945 (from which Vintage we have had a marvellous bottle of AA Ferreira VP a couple of years ago) :winepour: .

I am a 1973 vintage also, so I feel your pain. I've only had one from this vintage and only seen or heard about one other, which is not yet bottled. I've looked very hard and only come up with those so far :(

It could be worse, you could've been born in 1972. I don't believe there are any VPs from that year, at least none, that I have personally ever seen.

Actually there are a Fonseca and a Vargellas from 72. Both kinda bad, but extremely rare.

Congratulations on the case of VVV! I ordered one, but have not yet heard back from the store whether or not they will be able to get it for me.

I will try to politely suggest that nothing is truly confirmed until it is in your hands. Just sayin'.
