10 Year Old Tawny Port by Ferreira

Post by Andy Velebil »

I first must disclose with a home remodel going on I don't have a functioning kitchen at present. That means everything is now paper or plastic in the dishware department. In other words, a Port loving man must do what a Port loving man has to to enjoy his favorite beverage. That means I used a plastic cup *gasp* to drink out of. I've discovered the main issue with plastic cups is the nose is non-existent and the thick rim is a bit of pain, but doable, in these tough times. Otherwise a plastic cup doesn't seem to hurt the palate too much. I've rambled on long enough so....A balanced mix of just enough younger fresh fruit which still retains tannins and body to the older notes of maple, brown sugar, and shot of acid late on the palate. No heat at all, just a pure expression of a 10 Year Tawny. Even in a poor choice of cups, which hurt it a little though no fault of it's own, this still comes through with flying colors.

I am surprised you used a cup or glass at all with all you've got going on. I also really like this 10 year old and it is certainly amongst the top of the heap in 10 year old, although off the top of my head ... the Romaneira is probably my all-time favorite.
