Just got the new Rare Wine Company newsletter and they have this for sale. It's $295.00 (750) and $150.00 (.375).

It was bottled for Whitwham's by Niepoort, IIRC.

Don't recall ever having this one, just the older King Pedro version

I've had it a couple of times at tastings. It was generally the evening's favorite, usually competing with a 1966 Graham and 1955 Dow for the honor. Wish I had notes.

Is it actually an 1880 Port, or is it a solera of some sort? And is it VP or Colheita?

Bottled in 1999 from the cask I recall, making it a Colheita. 5% of some 1945 was added,.

Technically I suspect that makes it a 40 Year Old Tawny Port, but of course you'd have to submit a sample to the IVP so that they can ensure it hits the target profile for such a Port.

Apparently this was the conclusion reached by the IVDP, and thus it didn't get named a bunch of other things. As I understand it, there was some negotiation to get the labeling used.

The Rare Wine Co. newsletter says that this was originally several casks of Quinta do Sidro from 1880. This estate usually sold to Sandeman at that time. Cristiano Van Zellar discovered and bought them in the late 1990's. He had Dirk Niepoort bottle it. Dirk added 5% of the 1945 Niepoort. It's advertised that it (at least the 95%) was in cask for 119 years.
