The Pats could use it. So far at half time, from where I sit, Brady has been responsible for all the scoring.

Congratulations to the New York Giants. [cheers.gif] That catch by Mario Manningham was indeed impressive. That dropped ball by Welker late in the game was unfortunate, but so it goes.

What a fine finish to this game. It was well played by both teams and an outstanding effort by all. Congrats to the NY Giants and Andy D who won the contest! [cheers.gif]

Congratulations Andy. I hope you are celebrating the win with something special. :winebath:

I agree with this analyst's assessment of the game:

Once again, defence wins championships.

PS - I think something needs to be done to address this "malfunction" syndrome during the halftime shows. At next year's game in New Orleans, I recommend the performance of the slow movement of Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 7 in E Major, with the members and conductor of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra dressed in football gear. This should make for some very challenging woodwind playing.

I think it's only fair to thank Roy for setting up the contest in the first place. It's not only the best Portugese wine site on the web, but has a lot of very cool things going on on top of that - icing on the cake!

A very entertaining game, even for someone like me who doesn't understand what is going on for half of the time!

I have to confess that with a few beers inside me at 3 a.m. UK time it took quite a while to see the logic in the Giants NOT wanting to score a TD with 60 secods to go [shok.gif]

On another note: when is Madonna going to accept that she is no longer 30 years old?

I actually brought that up at the party we were at before the announcers mentioned it. I think Maurice Jones-Drew did that several years ago, causing much angst in the Fantasy Football ranks but ensuring his team's victory.

But I must not completely understand that rule. I thought the ball carrier clearly gave himself up, which as I understand the rule does not require that he actually be down. That last part is probably where I'm misunderstanding it, because while he clearly gave himself up he was never down until he fell into the end zone.

Good game, lots of funny commercials, and a decent halftime show for once.

Believe it or not we get absolutely no ads during the SB, at least not on the BBC - Sky might have had some, so every break in play is filled by a Grade C sports presenter talking to two Americans who couldn't get a job on a US network show trying to explain what is going on. I wish we got the funny ads instead

Another big shout out to Roy for setting this up. I was sure I had the prize - thought the Pats would win, maybe even by a lot. Oh well......

Thanks guys. It is always fun to have a small wager or an extra reason to follow the game more closely if your team is not playing. I didn't care who won, but did enjoy the competitiveness from both teams. Both QB's were playing smart football and quite accurate with their passes, given the pressure and I was surprised by how well the D line of the Patriots played. But over the past month and a half, no QB has been better than Eli. When they took down GB, I was absolutely amazed and to also dismantle SF with their powerful D, showed me a ton. I thought the Giants would win, but have learned many a time, never ... repeat never, underestimate Brady. That plop into the end zone at the end was quite a twist and personally, I thought it was going to cost them the game. If it had, someone would've been looking to steer clear of the streets of NY for a few months!

I am no Madonna fan, but didn't think she was that bad. Then again, I loved THE WHO a couple of years back ... that was a GREAT halftime act!

The commercials were pretty cool, some really clever marketing for sure! I finished off bottles of 1983 Gould Campbell and 20 year old Portal, that were left over from the night before. No beer this year. [shrug.gif]
