2005 Quarles Harris LBV Port

Post by Lamont Huxley »

I opened this after dinner last night with 5 other people and it was gone in less than 30 minutes (I guess they liked it [cheers.gif] ) so it didn't get much time to open up and I didn't get a chance to take a note on it. From memory it was a young-looking dark purple color with a nose of strawberries, blackberries and boysenberries as well as some spirit. Lots of sweet berry fruit on the palate with good acidity, some pepper on the midpalate and a finish that is mildly tannic and rather hot, although being that this bottle didn't even last for an hour after being opened it's likely that we just didn't give it enough time to mellow out. All in all though, for $12.99 the QPR is great and this makes a very tasty cellar defender or everyday Port. 87pts, Tasted 2/12
