1976 Quinta do Noval Colheita Port

Post by Rune EG »

Decanted 2 hrs. Bottled 2009. Brownred colour, close to typical transparent cognac. Aroma of nuts, figs, leather, oak and marzipan. Smooth well-balanced 36 yrs old tawny with noticeable/pleasant tannins. Long aftertaste of especially oak. 91 pts.

Rune, I have had several bottles of this during the latter years. I am not that experienced with colheita and was under the impression that there should be less bottle variation in this than in VP. Had one bottle that was definitely sub-par, another that was flat out gorgeous with lots of complexity and more lively acidity than others, and yet other bottles that were very similar to what you describe. Any additional experiences with this or similar experiences with colheita?
