1983 Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port
At 24 hours (stoppered decanter at 16C): medium dark red colour with some paleness at the rim, where there is clear attenuation. Shy on the nose initially, but, with warmth, gradually developing spicy dark fruit with a eucalyptus hint - well sustained. Nice round, even, gently sweet wine on the palate with a pleasingly dry tannic/acidic finish. Altogether a very agreeable middle of the road mature VP. I have had better bottles of this wine. On day 1, there were occasional slight off notes on the nose, but today the wine appears entirely clean. 88

Re: Smith Woodhouse 1983
Very nicely detailed note. Does seem to be a slightly off bottle, as your note indicated. Hopefully the next one shows better! ![Toast [cheers.gif]](./images/smilies/cheers.gif)
