Since 1955 ...

What is your single favorite Vintage for Port wine of all that have been produced after 1955?

That's a really tough question. Partly because it depends on how you define your "favorite" Port. Does that mean the Port that you think is the best? Or the one that you enjoy drinking the most? Or the one that you have the most of in your cellar (e.g. bought the most)?

I have to think on this one for a while...

1963 followed closely by 1970.

1963 or 1970 are pretty close and 1966 mixed in for a few producers.

Ah, I mis-read the question. I was struggling to come up with my favorite Vintage Port since 1955, not my favorite vintage since 1955.

If pressed I'd probably go with 1970, but 1963 is really close.

That's what you get for trying to parse the word, "favorite". [imnewhere.gif]

I'm going to have to say 1963 followed closely by 1970. Love the 1963 Fonseca, but also love the 1970 Graham's

I haven't finished the '55s yet - and recently succumbed to the temptation of buying another eight Dows..

Being born in '60 I could be accused of bias; but it is certainly a vintage that has found it's second wind - something that is so far eluding the '63's. '66 is a superbly solid vintage, with loads of life left; but a bit thin on the ground. However for quality, diversity and sheer quantity, '70 is the crown jewel of the mature vintages.

Personally, I'll go with 1963 as my favourite - but I freely admit that's partly because I was born that year (and partly because the Nacional 1963 was made that year). 1966 is a close run second, and 1970 is a shade behind that. Then it would probably be a big jump forward to 1994 for fourth place.
