1975 Cockburn Vintage Port
A nice, soft Port. More like Tawny or old LBV than VP. Still it was quite satisfying.

1976 Krohn Colheita. The weather has turned quite warm and I figured a nice, slightly chilled glass of colheita would quench my thirst!

Tomorrow, Quevedo White Port will be opened, to make a white Port & Tonic mixup. To toast on the first BBQ of this year (also the first nice Sunday weatherwise for it this year in my neck of the woods - near Breda, The Netherlands-).

1980 Gould Campbell VP
The Cockburn was the pleasant surprise of the night. Maybe it was my low expectations, but this was a wonderful bottle. The GC was a 375 recently purchased from a retailer in NJ, and was an off bottle, not TCA, but definitely funky.

The Portly Gentlemen are meeting tonight--no port on the official slate (other wines paired with cheese from a new local cheese and olive oil shop) but I am bringing a Ramos Pinto Collector for after the wine tasting--someone else bringing a Noval Black..
Have never had the RP Collector before so I am curious.

John M. The RP is unfiltered? Please report on the decant.
I bought the Cockburns Special Reserve for a nice price; brought home; popped and poured. Hadn't had this in a dogs age and bought for the price. Very pleasantly surprised. Fruity, upfront acidity with chocolate and stewed fruit; light tannic after.

Last night we capped the evening off with a bottle of 1985 Warre VP. It was ok... soft , delicate and floral... just not that exciting compared to an '85 Grahams for instance. Perhaps the Warre is in a weird state? Decanted 4-5 hours, needs double that IMO. My notes would be more positive if that were the case.

'63 Graham's VP. Decanted in the end probably 7 hours. (Dessert course was served later than I would have guessed). It was showing very well and was everything I love about port!

The RP Collector was a pop and pour. No mention of unfiltered so I assumed it was (got no sediment and a T-cork). Notes are sparse, end of the eveing by the time we opened it but I got dark cherry nose, a little dry grass. Very sweet, almost too much and a piquant after taste. A Noval Black was then opened which out preformed the RP Collector. Still, for the price, an ok quaff,

Really liked it. Still young, fruit abounds. V sweet. The aroma was wonderful, dense.
Decanted 6 hours. Wasn't nearly as good 36 hrs later.
