Cálem 1970 VP

First of a batch of 4 I picked up a couple of weeks ago. This one was leaking pretty badly (more than just some seepage) bit thankfully it showed no difficulties because of it. Opened yesterday, and will be finishing it off later tonight

Yet another bottle of Quevedo's 20 year old Tawny, always delicious and better, the second day onward.

Quevedo 2006 LBV - looking forward to having this again tonight, after opening it two days ago for a blind tasting in tutoring a WSET student.

1964 Pocas Colheita - I did not buy enough of these @ $99 recently. Just a handful and now wish I had bought more. Really scrumptious juice!

1970 Taylor's Vintage Port - a corked bottle. I hate when this happens, more so when sharing with others at a big vertical tasting!

2011 Taylor's Vintage Port - really impressive and I'll stand by my early impressions and scores. Deserving special notice for 2011's, while I still prefer the Vargellas Vinha Velha.

My first bottle of many 1987 Souza Vintage Ports. I will try to put together a coherent tasting note tomorrow, but it is surprisingly good.

I like the 1987 quite a bit actually. A hell of a bargain despite the name on the label. Enjoy them. I look forward to your TN.

No need to take offense. Your description was spot on and I bought it based only on that (well ... and the price!) The only concern that I had was from the condition of the bottles. After hearing that others got pristine bottles, I had just that slightest concern about mine. But, all that was unwarranted. This has turned out to be one of the best QPRs of nearly anything that I have bought. In fact, I can only think of the 2003 Taylor LBV that is in the same category.

I think you know I was pretty much kidding, Gary. I had a couple of these during Christmas week and they rocked and I raised my score by a point. The 1997 is darn good too. Pricing wise, all were very solid, but to have a 90+ point VP coming importer direct from ex-cellars bottles, with 26 years of age at the time ... it is hard to beat.

The plan is to open with the CdS Eufemia, then have the LBVs as a set, then the Terra Fielta as a closer.
