1970 Fonseca VP. This is one of my all-time favorites, but this bottle had a distracting off aroma that I thought might be TCA. It was mild, so I still enjoyed it, but nowhere near as much as other bottles.

Had lots today. Some highlights. 1983 Gould Campbell VP. 2001 Bomfim and Malvedos (later far more youthful). 2009 Pombal do Vesuvio Douro. A really good Cockburns 10 and 20 tawny (these have gotten much better recently). And some others as well I'll post about when I get home...time for bed.

Graham 20 Yr Tawny (new format bottle - great improvement, btw) - really good, more full bodied than the Ferreira and a n impressive finish, much like the F. am impressed. 93-94

94 Martinez VP - impressively good, really. pleasure to drink, the alcohol has integrated well, little fruit left, lots of chocolate flavors, pleasant finish. 91

I am a big fan of this wine. I call it a mini 1994 Vesuvio!

It was fantastic! Silky smooth entry, nicely layered palate, fairly long finish...it did not disappoint! Unfortunately, I only have one more bottle left in the cellar....

1970 Dow Vintage. Wow, that is for sure one of the best of the vintage. Fonseca is not running away with the title, but is still probably the best. From pop and pour, till the next day the Dow was just a joy. Not that "dry" either. I never got how Dow is supposed to be dryer tasting; it was plenty sweet.

Hi You Portlovers.

Tonight great friends are Coming over. I have had a special bottle for a while, not really knowing the content. Thats why I opend a second bottle just in case. But the mysterious bottle turned out to be nothing more than fantastic. When the Cork came off the entire room was filled with that sense, I just so fancy
The smell of pure and simple quality.

If any body knows about it please feel free to make comments.

And the second bottle, sweet and ladylike, a Ramos Pinto 20 years, bottled in 1976.

Have a great weekend
Allan

Talk about a special occasion: This week the ABBA Live at Wembley Arena album came out. As it was recorded in 1979, I bought a bottle of Kopke Colheita 1979 to be enjoyed while listening to the album. :winebath:
