You know you're a port geek when... you meet up with five other like-minded individuals, and open 6 bottles of identical port (Taylors 1985 as it happens) from a single case with good provenance, in order to determine the amount of bottle-variation within a single case.

A very interesting test, as it happens - with significant (and unexpected) differences between the bottles, despite great care having been taken to ensure they were all handled identically.

Today, my total number of bottles is 1414, with 410 bottles of VP (and about 2/3 of my 2011 VP orders have arrived) and 76 bottles of other Port. (the percentages have shifted a bit since my earlier post).

Probable the nr of VP's after this weekend will be one lower, when -hopefully - I have recovered from my common cold enough to be able to enjoy a nice VP (it would be a shame to open one when I have next to no taste and/or smell)

I just got over the flu and everything tasted bland for about 5 days. Thankfully all is back in good working order now and that Crasto Reserva Douro I had last night was jummy. Hope yours comes back soon.

When you have over 40 posts revolving around the formation of a new (FTLOP Favicon). That should be the winner here, or maybe for Darwin Awards.
