Tonight I am enjoying a Warre's Traditional LBV 1995 - you may be intersted to know that Al-B, Al-C, Al-K and I have managed to liberate 55 bottles of this nectar for £5 per bottle from various Asda stores across the UK in the past 72 hours :D

Buy all you can - this is the deal of the decade 8)

I'm stuck in the middle of an Asda free zone here - I've no idea where their nearest store is...

Tom,

Its not just any Asda Store, it has to be an Asda/Walmart Superstore. Go on the Asda.com site, store locator, etc.

Derek,

Well? is it any good?

Tom,

If we find any more are you interested? If so, how many?

Alan,

Yes 8)

Derek,

I think we'll have to do a tad of work on your Tasting Notes, just a little 'padding out' required. Although 'Yes' actually made me feel like I was there drinking it myself, I worry others may struggle! :)

My adorable Deborah, has just come home, and because I'm staying in tonight with my kids, while she visits her Sister overnight, she bought me a surprise bottle.......

Cruz VP 1989
This made me laugh. But at least Deborah's making the effort and you finally get to go through the FTLOP initiation ceremony (drink a bottle of Cruz).

Afterwards you can tell Deborah that you really appreciated her buying the Cruz '89 but that it wasn't quite as good as the Harvey's '85 - and that Fine & Rare Wines have some of the Harvey's '85 for sale if she wants an idea for a birthday or early Christmas present for you...

A half bottle of Kopke Quinta St Luiz 1985. Was unfamiliar with the Quinta. Nice cherry flavor, but otherwise rather one-dimensional, and I thought it tasted like a LBV. Was also reminded of a Sandeman 1975 drunk not too long ago which was probably past it, and on reflection not as good.

Happy May Day!

Fine and Rare Wines are NOT doing any Harveys or Martinez 85's. The hunt continues! :D

Adam,

Nice to know who AFEATHER is. Glad you are still with us!

Sorry about the rough spots on the site this past week. Finally things are working well and we discovered 41 people who were not able to officially register (but had filled in their info on the site) until things were fixed today. I am 90% happy about the updates that have taken place but will NOT BE SATISFIED until we have everyone on a real name and location, basis ... which has been my goal since day 1. We are almost there! Some things are easier than others to fix. Progress never stops.

4 days and finally a login! :) I'm telling you - I was jonesing for a fix!!!

This weekend I indulged in a Ferreira 10 yr Tawny, which I haven't been able to find back home and a Broadbent Madeira Colheita 1996. The Madeira was interrupted and ruined by a violent burst of vomiting and food poisoning. I ordered the hotel cheese platter to my room to enjoy with the port and Madeira... oops  BAD mistake.

Seeing as how it was my first Madeira experience, it was disappointing to have it ruined by a bit of bad food :(

A girl! Thankfully we managed to spend an hour and a quarter in the hospital before she was born and all doing well! Will 2007 be a vintage year in porto I wonder? We will wait and see; if so I will have to buy some (any excuse :) )

Congrats Adam! We'll find out in '09 whether your daughter will have a 'classic' vintage or a lesser-declared.

Enjoy that new baby and take care of your wife!

Adam,

Congratulations

Speaking as a Father, I can only offer only one piece of advice - buy all the port you can whilst your darling wife is in hospital and stash it away before she gets home

Derek

PS: Perhaps the above comment explains something about why I no longer live with my wife :?

Adam,

Congratulations. Great to hear Mum and Baby are doing well. Now unless they are already home, set your alarm for the middle of the night, and when it goes off, wake up long enough to enjoy the silence! It may be a while before you ever hear it again!

And ignore the fact she looks like the milkman. She also looks like Phil Collins...all babies do.

Adam,

Just in case you are too tired to spot it - there is huge UK v USA humour divide taking place here - all of the above posts really say "Well Done" - those from this side of the pond are just a bit more thoughtfull
