Opened (and took a sip) of one my favorite VP's tonight in order to drink it tomorrow with my son and his wife, the 2000 Fonseca VP.
I love this wine very much, I had it several times and it has never disapointed me. Lovely wine!

My computer's bottle selection program, which evaluates 58 different factors to determine the most appropriate next bottle for my home consumption; determined that I should indulge a bottle from a stash of Fonseca '66 which I purchased in December 2008, but have to date, not yet sampled.

- And who am I to disagree with the worthy 'puter..?

English bottled by Peatling & Cawdron in King's Lynn, Norfolk, the bottle bore a simple label and a level just below base of neck.

What an incredibly young wine this is! Inky in the glass, quite fragrant, but still awkwardly tannic; the wine is shouting 'come back in another half century' at me..

Rarely have I felt so justified when flagging the remainder of the bottles (seven of them) as code R - reserved for special occasions..

I couldn't agree more.

Yesterday was a spontaneous tasting in the club. Bring a bottle. The line up ended up being.,.

20YO Offley
20YO Vieira De Sousa
10YO Quinta de Gaivosa
1985 Kopke Colheita

Graham's Natura Reserve Ruby
2010 Quinta de Prelade LBV
2004 Quinta dos Malvedos Vintage
2003 Quinta de Romaniera Vintage

The reds had a poor showing and the Offley stole it for me at 91 points.

S. Leonardo Velhissimo Tawny Port opened last night for a handful of aficionados. Thank goodness I still have another bottle ... the first one disappeared WAY to quickly. It held up to the hype and my expectations, which were pretty high.
