Offley Boa Vista 1963. Sadly the cork had failed a little so the wine was oxidised and tired. It happens.

1977 Grahams VP on Saturday. Had bottle stink going on. Kind of musty. Day two was certainly less, but it's not most memorable '77 Grahams that's for sure. Cork was perfect too. [dash1.gif] Just a couple of glasses into the bottle.

Plan to finish on the 4th.

Could it be mild cork taint?

That's what I am think or hope. '77 seems to be rife cork issues.

Went over friends' house last night for a BBQ. They opened a new to me port; Castellomelhor Tawny. This is not a commercial product, but rather a family port. Tasted at least 40 years old. A real treat. They were not sure on the specifics of age or blend. Could be a colheita despite the label.

We also had an '85 Dow Vintage that was a joy, but not as special as the Castellomelhor.

When the first heatwave of summer hits, it’s time to break out the Cockburn’s white port and tonic with lots of ice.

Pretty good. I gave it 93, Lisa gave it 94, and Vic gave it 91 until we peer-pressured him up to a 92.

1987 Porto Souza VP. Acquired in a trade with John M. I'll have a full glass tonight, but the first sips seems promising. Long aftertaste.

1985 Ferreira. Bottle was perfect. When this vintage is firing on all cylinders, I put at the top 2-3 of the vintage. Top 10 of the decade.
