How were those? Was there anything left to the Andresen 20?

2007 Taylor Fladgate LBV. Started to leak so I opened it (T-cork); had one glass after dinner as a pop and pour, the rest the next day. Very jam laden nose--lush dark fruits--mostly blackberry with hints of blueberry and anise. A nice youthful LBV that is easy to enjoy casually. A little better the second day.

Another bottle of Warre LBV. This time it's the 1979 vintage.

The T-stopper on the Andresen was shot to pieces, the wine was somewhat cloudy and you got a lot of heat on the nose. After resting some time in the decanter it drank quite well, sharp acidity, with nutty flavours.

The Quinta da Foz was pleasant, brick colour, a bit thin in flavours but very sweet with dried figs dominating the palate. Short finish but all in all very enjoyable.

1977 Dow Vintage Port. Looked like a perfect bottle, but had leaked under the capsule. Nice, but a bit more mature then usual.

Croft 1991, Port of the vintage without a doubt, thanks Roy for pointing this one out!

D'Oliveira 1880 Terrentez, simply a wow wine|!!!!

Niepoort 1983 Colheita bottled in 1996, it took 10 hours for this bottle to finally get in place and be amazing! Even Dirk could not believe as normally once it is opened it is fantastic!

1970 Fonseca and 1963 Taylor; both were locally cellared since they were current vintages for sale back in the day.

I'm having friends over Friday for a few bottles and 1980 GC is on the list--glad to hear it showed well. The others include a 1994 GC, a 2000 GC, a 1991 Smith Woodhouse and a couple newbies...2009 Quinta de la Rosa and 2007 Romaeira with a 2001 Panascal in reserve. Although I wonder if I should save the 2000 GC (dumb phase concerns) and just swap in the Panascal.

John,
Let me know how the 2007 Romaneira shows. I also just received that as well.

As for 2000 GC vs 2001 Panascal - I think that both are good choices, but you should decant the GC several hours before serving.

I did the switch--the GC just seems to me to have better future potential than the Panascal--it will go in my sons' stash (he was born in 1999 so I use 2000 for most VPs for him).

I decanted the newer ones this morning to give them 12 hours including the Romaneira, the others I will open about 5 hours before we gather--thanks David and will get back to you.
