Lesson to be learnt : don't judge a book by it's cover!!!

The bottle was showing some mold combined with a musty smell and the label half hanging off, but removing the capsules reveal that this was caused by another bottle leaking onto it, and all was well up top! - the cork came out with a refreshing "pop", nicely tight and sealed!

Well it's a Warre's; so there is a little alcohol, but not overpowering - big jammy strawberry/cherry fruit (on the nose as well as the palate) mixed with a little spice and tobacco. A little chocolate to finish with some balanced tannins.

I've got an '85 Cockburns to try (something new!! i turned down an '85 Dow in it's place), but i'm feeling this '83 is going to beat it hands down.

But what a finish!! it goes on forever - getting slowly spicier, very pleasant. 92 pts
