Decant: 8½ hours - South Africa. LBV. Dark red, deep and nearly opaque centre. Nose is very closed. In the mouth this is very fruity and with a strong acidic core with the tannins mostly integrated. Peppery and vibrant, very dry but with plenty of fruit. There is a warm aftertaste with lots of dried cherries, but the heavy oaking dominates and leaves a dry and slightly unpleasant taint to the taste. It is long and big, cheek tingling in its intensity and very enjoyable.

The next day, the oak had faded back and the wine was a little more balanced and enjoyable. The morale seems to be to drink on a pop and pour basis or on with 30+ hours. 88 points
