Decant: 20 minutes - 20 minutes after decanting this port had an orange centre with a pale and watery rim. Butterscotch and mandarins were on the attractive nose. Dry on entry with not a great deal of fruit but a biting pepperiness. This thickened up in the mouth and developed hints of black licorice. The aftertaste of wood and pencil shavings lasted a long time. Impressive for its age, but drying out slowly. 6/5 or 87/100.

6 hours after decanting this had developed a nose of pure mandarin juice. It still showed lovely pepper and tobacco in the mouth and had a vicious end-palate acidity and lots of aniseed. Holding together very well and very pleasant to drink. 87/100. 87 points
