Decant: 24 hours - Plastic snap-on capsule; UK bottled by the Wine Society and with a Wine Society label but with a cork clearly branded Quinta do Foz 1966; light green glass. Decanted easily and left a lot of sediment in the bottle.
A lovely rich, red colour, deep centre, deep rim. Wonderfully open on the nose, sweet and inviting, full of dates and ripe Victoria plums. Quite dry on entry and with a pronounced acidity but a lovely, rich sweetness develops and fills the mouth with cinnamon and plums. Quite hot initially on the aftertaste, but this quickly fades to leave a long and very robust pear and chocolate finish. Delicious and a real surprise to me as the first Quinta do Foz I have ever tried. Very good indeed. 91 points
