TN: 1998 Graham Quinta dos Malvedos Vintage Port

Decant: 1½ hours - Deep red centre, just becoming transparent but with the colour holding in to the rim. Damsons and plums on the nose, together with some beautiful floral lavendar or violet tones. Sweet but hollow entry, too much like bland sugar-syrup on the tongue and not showing a great deal. The fruit does come though eventually as sweet redcurrants, woth some acidity but little by way of tannins. The aftertaste is lovely and full, with lots of dried cherries and dark chocolate but is too short for a top Malvedos. Perhaps this is a port still in a closed-down phase and will improve with more time in the cellar. 85 points
