Decant: Just Opened - Deep red centre, red holding right into the rim. Roughly the colour I would expect to see in a Warre's 1983. Touch of heat on the nose with strawberry juice elements. Young, sweet juice into the mouth. Strong, sweet but acidic structure with layers of fruit, cherry juice and even still touches of blueberry juice. Tannins are soft but still present. Length starts with fruit and moves to brown sugar but goes on for absolutely ages. A better nose on the wine would have made this perfect! (Note: I did notice that swirling the wine in the glass released the alcohol, smelling the wine before swirling gave a much softer and more gentle nose.) 98 points
