Decant: 48 hours - The first vintage bottled by the owners under their own label, previously grapes having been sold to Ferreira. Deep red colour, opaque centre and looking very young. Nose subdued but with blueberries all over it. Initially the tongue picks up sweet fruit but then the wine becomes very dry and with the tannins very noticeable, but the fruit managing just to stay in control. In the mid-palate there us a slightly odd, harsh tone mixed in with the fruit. This is very much a simple and fruit forward wine. Very respectable, does the simple things well. Good length, big flavours dominated by the tannins and the almost citric acidity. This will make a very good house port in 10 years time. Axel felt that it showed better with less time in the decanter. 85 points
