Decant: 2 hours - Mid red colour, crystal clear with a pale rim. A nose which changed over 2 hours from hot and spirity on opening to a cherry and cloves scent after an hour until ending as strawberry fudge after 2 hours. Soft and sweet into the mouth, smooth and velvety. A touch of heat but nicely developed fruit mixed with layers of brown sugar flavours. A long aftertaste that is initially hot from the alcohol but this fades to be replaced by a long and pleasant length of cedar wood and tobacco. This was an enjoyable bottle but nowhere near the class that Roy described in a recently published tasting note. On Tom's scale this was lower than the median and is probably fully mature - say 4/4.

Footnote:- 2 hours after taking this note I came back to this wine and found that 4 hours in the decanter had dramatically changed and impreoved this wine. After 4 hours it was much more integrated and balanced having lost much of the initial heat and would have rated closer to 91 or 6-6. 91 points
