1970 Dow’s Vintage Port
A stark contrast to the 1960 Dow’s. The nose on this was still young and fruity, unlike many 1970’s that have started to entered their older stages of life. Still youthful and fruity on the palate with big lavender and massive tannins and acidity. Very complex and complete and a stark contrast to the 1970 Warre’s I had after it. IMO this is one of the top 1970 VP’s and has a long life ahead. 95 Points

Andy,

I popped open a 1970 Dow in late August of 2010 for my parents 40th anniversary, and, like you, found the fruit to be full of youth and vigor still. In fact, because the port was so dark, I began to wonder if someone hadn't conned me and refilled the bottle with 1997 port instead! I imagine that the bottle would have aged nicely for another 40 years--at least! :-)
