For The Love Of Port

November 29, 2010 - Charming wine. Clean, fruity, light and feminine, with a fair blast of heat through the pruney finish. Nice acidity, a touch of tannin. This put on some nice weight with a couple days of air. 89 points.

Yeah baby and the price ain't too bad either. At least it wasn't.

Seriously, this is a very cool bottling for the days you don't want to break out the expensive bottles but are still thirsty and craving something with fine tawniness. (Nice word).

When I stopped by their offices to pick up my bottles, Tom Flickinger sounded hopeful they'd eventually be getting more in stock. If so, I'll be picking up a few more for just this reason...

Would you believe I was in WI on Saturday and didn't even think to call you. Then again, I was heading back to Seattle after some lengthy flights from Cancun and only had a 1 hour layover. I had never been in the Milwaukee airport before. Good old AirTran. I shouldn't complain, at least they provided from Wifi on board.

I'd never heard of this particular bottling until I recently noticed a TN here on FTLOP and then just the other day I noticed it in a local shop but can't recall what it was selling for. What exactly is in the bottle and what would be a reasonable price for it?

In the buy it was less than $12. I haven't tasted it yet, but for retail I'd probably look for $20 or less.

This is a tawny Port that has been aged about 8 years on average and is a very enjoyable Port. Quevedo Ports and wines have only recently, as of this year, been imported to the USA. Much to the delight of many of us who've been lucky enough to have tried their Ports/wines while in Portugal. I think it's safe to say you'll get a thumbs-up recommendation to buy it from all us here.

Thanks Eric and Andy for the clarification. So I guess it falls into the same category as the Ferreira "Dona Antonia" or the Delaforce "His Eminence's Choice", both of which I like very much. If the price is right I'll give it a try...

Yes in that same category and those two are good examples for comparison. The Quevedo is not only a very solid value performer but the people behind this brand are worthy supporting.
