Decanted three hours before drinking. Deep dark red which is positive in view of the port being 27 years old. Floral, cool / fresh aroma with dark berries. No signs of spirit in the aroma, which is also nice. Full body, smooth / elegant, quite a lot of tannins (in a good way). Medium to long finish. A very nice port, and it is adding on to my growing positive attitude to the 83-vintage in general. Fortunately I have two cases of this port in my cellar, so I look forward to the future! Really enjoyed this port during two evenings. Will get more experience with this port before going higher in score. 92 pts

I had this Port last Saturday, at an in-store tasting. That bottle didn't fare quite as well as yours, but it was popped-and-poured and showed considerable heat. Your note is far more representative of what this Port can deliver. Good thing you've got lots....

I have bought 3 cases of this Port. The first one at $19 and the next two at $39 per bottle. I have always found it to be very young and very good. Not as great as the 1977 and possibly not as good as the 1980 either. The 1985 GC is in another league altogether.
