From a batch of LBVs that I tasted over a couple of days in late 2010.
2003 Quinta do Crasto LBV
unfiltered, bottled 2008
Color: deep purple with red overtones. Opaque in the center.
Nose: Some alcohol, muddled purple fruits, and faint tomato paste.
Palate: Tart purple and red fruits. Slightly dry. Good tannins and acidity. Slight bite and feels unsettled. Needs to mellow a bit - perhaps 5-10 more years of age?
Finish: Semi-dry, semi-tannic. Heat. Tart fruit. Good length.
Score: 88 points. Should be better given more time to mellow out a bit. Slightly dry style not really my favorite.
