The 3rd of my 6 $19 bottles from Vinopolis... what a steal! Wish I'd bought a case. Or 2.

Quinta do Portal 20 Year Old Tawny Port
note taken after 3 days open

Color: Medium tawny with some decent red left. Clearly a tawny Port, though.
Nose: Dusty grains, some faint sugar, a touch of alcohol, and some very mild stewed fruits.
Palate: A fairly strong, dark entry that hints at both coffee and and overly caramelized sugar. Not quite burned, but close. High-toned vanilla and cotton candy provide some counterpoint. Very slight bitter edge (very slight). Some blood orange and maybe a little brown sugar. Good acidity. I think it needs a couple more days to peak.
Finish: Echoes the palate. The bitter edge turns into grape stem as it fades away and then there's a bit of apple core. Decent heat and good length.

Score: 91 points. Still crazy good QPR. I think I've cheated this bottle by starting into it a bit too soon. The first one peaked at 3-4 days, but the second one needed a week to really get nice.
