Unfiltered, Bottled 2010
Not decanted - opened for 4+hrs:
Opaque, dark purple/garnet. Funky, brambly, blueberry fruit aroma with a smokey/burnt toast quality. High-toned blueberry and prune fruit on entry - moderately sweet - then turns rather hollow with black pepper and alcohol on the midpalate and green tannins dominating the clipped finish. Strikes me as rather unripe. By the end of the second glass the midpalate has filled in a bit and the tannins don't seem quite as stalky, but I'm still not digging it. We'll see what happens tomorrow...
Unfortunately, after being open for 30+ hours my impressions are pretty much consistent with the first night. There doesn't seem to be anything flawed (it's not corked or cooked and I don't sense any VA), but considering how good the '03 was I'm a bit baffled. 82 pts, Tasted 3/11
