1983 Niepoort Vintage Port
served blind
Color: Medium red, very clear. Pretty and jewel-like.
Nose: A little dust and some alcohol. Not much in the way of fruit.
Palate: Nice. Medium notes all around, but with a rich and round honey texture. Evolved with time.
Finish: Above average, but a bit hot.
Score: 92 points. This one seemed softer and more mature, but not enough that I picked it as the ringer. The gradual evolution over time should have clued me in that this was a Niepoort, because that's something I seem to note quite often in Niepoort ports.
