Pop & Pour – Color is rusty and cloudy with very fine sediment floating after decanting. There was virtually no sediment when decanting. The nose has a light touch of spirit and VA is present, but not strong as most Madeira. The taste initially is cola with sweet dried fruit and herbaceous on exit. The port shows great length with wonderful acidity that really lingered.

6 Hours Later – Browned in color. Tastes of molasses, toffee and tangerine flesh developed. The acidity persists as does the long finish. Others thought there is vanilla on the nose and taste almonds, apricots, and black cherries.

It’s pretty obvious this Colheita (1853) was “freshened” at some point, but does not deter this from being a fine Colheita in its own right.

95 Points. :yumyum:
