TN: 2004 Quinta do Silval Dorna Velha Douro red

Purchased at the quinta in May 2009 when Emmy and I stayed there a short week as a base for visiting various places in Douro. This is the last bottle.
Decanted 1.5 hrs. Medium red with a little unfiltered look. Deep ”old” aroma of berries and some oak. Full body. A lot of acidity and power, but less fruit. It is a tight Douro red with some elegance. An interesting wine that is a bit difficult to describe precisely. Quite good, but I am getting the feeling that the wine has reached it’s peak and has started to go down. But still I will give the wine 90 pts.
