2004 Dows LBV Port

Part of a Dows LBV vertical of 2001, 2004 & 2005—each port was double decanted 24 hours in advance (the 2005 was unfiltered, the 2001 & 2004 were filtered—I decanted all just to keep the aeration consistent for the tasting). All had T-Corks. Spartan Notes—too much of a party going on and a lot of newbies.
Classic Dows LBV--Big dark fruit taste--blackberry, hint of chassis and dark chocolate. Moderate aftertaste; very pleasant easy drinker.
As a group, the 2001 was the winner, 2004 2nd and 2005 3rd; a few thought the 2004 was the best. All called the 2005 the least favorite.
