For The Love Of Port

I opened this last night to celebrate Oscar's and Nadia's wedding today (I have to work tonight so had to celebrate a day early). Sipped several glasses over a few hours and it seemed to hit it's stride after about 45 minutes. Medium bodied, with just enough fruit, I like how the minerality gives this a slight chalkiness and adds some depth. Sadly it was my last bottle.

Who is Oscar?

Oscar Quevedo, of course. Oscar is the marketing director and his sister Sophia is the winemaker for Quevedo.

We still have a few bottles of the 2008 left. I like the 2008 a little better than the 2009 - it's more rustic and at least to me speaks more of its Douro heritage.

What he said. And Oscar's a super nice guy as well.

They're a bit new in the Douro wine thing and are starting to expand to more markets, so keep an eye out for their stuff. They make some killer QPR dry wines. And of course some very good Ports as well.

I used a bottle of this to sautee some portabella mushrooms in last night and will be doing that again with my last bottle of 2008, tomorrow night as well. Fun to drink and a great wine to sip and cook with too!
