Popped and poured: Not much on the nose, purple colour, some fruit and a lot of spirit on the palate. Not integrated at all, short spirity finish.
Day 2 and 3: Totally different story: Lots of fruit on the nose and on the palate, also some fine herbs, tones of caramel, dark chocolate and mint (made me think of After Eight). Well integrated and smooth. Nice and long aftertaste.

I was not surprised to see that you found it a bit spirity and lackluster without any decanting. Day 2 and 3, with lots more air time when decanting is not possible ahead of time, this is a beautiful version of the Vesuvio.

Thanks for the note. I agree... this wine needs lots of time.... or serious decanting.
