About palate

I was lucky enough to receive a lesson about the influence of oak to wine. (Vincent Bouchard: Quinta do Tedo) Alliers, Jura... What they do to front palate, middle palate and so on. I understand the tongue and nose, but front or middle palate as sensory instrument is not familiar to me. Could someone explain it so, that a reader, not very fluent in English, can understand. Greetings from Finland. Ari-Heikki

Ari,

You might find this link helpful: http://www.thewinedoctor.com/glossary/m.shtml

The description given there fits with my understanding of the term mid-palate. But I never heard the term "front-palate" used before. I suspect that this is describing what most people would term the "entry".
