What do you think of this brand new delivery service?

I think this is a brilliant strategy. But, I wonder if it is ONLY available in the USA?

Will it work and is it worth the money ... what do you say? [1974_eating_popcorn.gif]

FedEx already calls me the night before a delivery, so really it sounds like UPS is playing catch-up. The only difference I can see is that this "new" UPS service allows me to digitally sign for the package so I wouldn't have to actually be at home when wine is delivered.

Doubt I'd pay for the service though.

I get a UPS delivery almost every day - as many as 4-6 packages sometimes. These days I am always here, but should I ever want to be away, this might be a useful service. I do have to say that 99% of these packages don't have to be signed for, but with this service, I might order more things, like wine, that require signatures. I already pay Amazon.com $80/year for unlimited free 2nd day delivery, so why not $40 to UPS for convenience of those deliveries.

I bet alcohol isn't included in the sign online part.

...which would make it essentially useless to me. That is about the only adult-must-sign shipments I get. Once or twice a year I get something from Apple (like a $10 cable) that they absolutely insist must be signed for, but that's rare.

I'm just guessing. I could be wrong. But if you agree to not be there and someone else takes the $10 Apple cable from your porch, that's your problem. If some underage kids take your alcohol and drink it, that might be UPS's problem.

I do agree, a $10 cable from Apple is rare :-)

Good point.

Well, maybe I was off by a factor of 2 (or 4).
