How did Warre get this one wrong? I don't hear many praising the 10 year while the 20 is very solid.

$25 is even a bit expensive in high tax Washington. I normally see it hovering around $20, and it's available almost year round at Costco for $18.

I'd still pass though, the 10 really doesn't do it like the 20 does.

I find this is a good wine for people who might like a liqueur or even, if such a thing existed, a light brandy. Having just tried it for the first time this evening, I liked it more than I expected, given how negative the feedback has been. Personally, I think the color is great, I wish the rest was of the same level.

It's not a bad Tawny in its own right, it's just when you compare it to the 20 year old version the differences in quality are quite noticeable.

Meh. I don't find it bad, but neither do I find it especially good. My lone TN in the db includes the following:

Not exactly a resounding endorsement as it is, and I was probably biased in favor of the Port on that particular occasion because we tasted it in the Graham's lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia. The setting was probably worth at least a point if not two. My gut feeling is that the Otima 10-yr old is usually an 83-85 point Port for me, which equates to "good" whereas the above 87 points would be "very good." Factor in the poor QPR due to the 500 ml bottle and I'd steer people away from it. There are much better 10-yr old tawnies in the same (normal, not sale) price range, and those come in 750 ml bottles.

This particular sale price ($18/500 ml) is about where I feel it belongs price-wise, as that puts it on par with 750 ml bottles priced at $27. At that price it's worth trying for people who've never had it as they might enjoy the style.

It can be quite spirity early on, I find that it is typically a little better after it has been open a few days. The 20 year old Otima is a BIG step up in quality though. I've said that since the first day it was launched, a tasting I remember well.

It sure is. I would've expected something better from Warre for their 10 year; a bit of let down compared to what else is available (at that price point).
