Thick molasses, maple, and toffee dominate the nose. Thick and semi-sweet up front then a big burst of acidity that carries the mahogany, wood varnish, spices, vanilla into a long full finish. I've always enjoyed this and this bottle is no different.

This tawny has become my go-to port. I rarely buy anything else these days, since other tawnies do not have either the initial taste nor the staying power after the bottle is opened. Ferreira 20 seems to improve over the first two or three days after opening and then holding on a long plateau (changing somewhat in taste, but staying enjoyable) for several weeks. I sometimes have more than one bottle open at a time in order to enjoy side by side tasting of different open-times.

But Pete ... what happened to your love of Nimrod and the nutty style of Tawny. The Duque definitely does not fit that mold, at all. Much more citrus and caramel based than nutty which is what I believe you loved about the Nimrod.
