The Crasto Roriz has been produced only three times: 1999, 2003 and 2009.

Decanted 3 hrs. Medium to dark red colour. Cool, subdued aroma of oak and berries. Taste is balanced, fruity, quite tough tannins, powerful, smoky wood towards the end. A bit of old style Douro, which is OK. Medium to long finish. A nice Crasto wine sold at abt USD 50 in UK and abt USD 57 in Denmark. Purchased only one bottle for tasting, and will stay with that. There are so many other Crasto Douro reds that are giving better value-for-money. 91 pts.

If I'm not mistaken this a.m., they also made it in 1997 as well. Which was the first vintage of it.

I don't read that statement as saying it's a so-so wine, just that it's perhaps overpriced for its quality. It could easily still be a 91 point wine, but if it's priced as a 94-95 point wine then it wouldn't be good value for the money. [shrug.gif]

Glenn is understanding my tasting note of the Crasto Tinta Roriz the way I tried to express it.
If there were no other high level Crasto wines around, I would buy the 2009 Tinta Roriz. However, as you will see from a tasting note that I posted a few minutes ago, the 2009 Crasto Touriga Nacional is just a few USD more expensive here, but that is a product which in my mind is much better value-for-money.
