TN: 2009 Pintas (Wine & Soul) Douro red

Tasted first time together with winemakers Sandra Tavares and Jorge Borges in Pinhao as part of the FTLOP Harvest Tour 2011. Then purchased a bottle in Denmark to taste. Similar impressions.
2 hrs decanting. Dark red colour with a tiny light rim. Heavy aroma of berries, oak and a bit of coffee. Powerful, elegant, well integrated berries and oak. Full body. Long aftertaste. This is Douro all the way. But this Douro red is young and a bit “raw and unfinished”. The wine needs cellaring, and after this test bottle I will buy a case and forget it for abt 2-3 years. Score as it is now 91 pts.
