We're going to be up in the Seattle area again in a couple of weeks - this time in Seattle proper instead of the Bellevue/Redmond area.
Any recommendations on wine retailers in the city that have a good selection of Port? If we have time, we'll probably make it over to Pete's in Bellevue anyway, but I'd like an option or two on the West side of the lake as well!

Wine World on 45th St. on the West side of I-5 .. ten minute drive from downtown, is a must see, with nice selection and good prices.
Best selection of Port in Seattle (proper), is by far, The Spanish Table, which is below the Pike Place Market. However, pricing is not so wonderful, but the quantity of Portuguese wine, Fortified and otherwise, can't be beat.
I hope you and Phyllis have fun while you are here. Try this restaurant for lunch one day ... two minutes from Pike Place Mkt: Le Pichet. Inexpensive, great wine list and excellent bistro food. VERY casual but excellent.

There's also Esquin on 4th in the SoDo district. Good selection and usually pretty good prices too.

Roy & Glenn - thanks for the tips! I'm pretty sure we'll have a car on this trip, so we'll try to check out as many places as our stamina allows.

We hit Wine world today - I'm sorry to say, we were not impressed. Yes, it's a very big wine store, but we have Total Wine stores in our area and they're even bigger. We did see a couple wines that we recognized, but at ~20% higher prices than we find in CA. We were surprised by how small the selection of Ports was. Oh well - on to The Spanish Table and Esquin tomorrow - plus there's always Pete's in Bellevue.

We have rather onerous alcohol taxes here in WA so that's why the prices seem high to you. Wine World us usually pretty good for Seattle.
I hope you find a better selection today, but be forewarned that you won't find better prices at the Spanish Table!

Today we visited Esquin and The Spanish table - both of which had much better Port selections than Wine World. After those, we stopped in old Issaquah and had lunch at Max's World cafe (chef Edna says Hi) and then hit the Issaquah Costco for more Quinta do Portal 20 year tawny. last on our list - our old standby Pete's in Bellevue, which we'll visit right before dinner.

Edna and her staff make some great food!

I like Portal a lot, but that price is quite a bit higher compared to other 20 year olds with equivalent or better quality. Just my opinion though. That being said, I enjoy the Portal 20 but feel it should be selling at a more reasonable price ... especially at Costco.
