TN: Bottled by J. Townend & Sons(Hull)LTD. One of the plastic tops common in the 70's-awful to remove-very hard plastic.
Normal result wet red wine on top of the cork-used wet tp to remove but
bubbled up like CO2?-very odd.
Nose: slightly off feel in nose.
Body: full
Taste: very big-but also slightly off-5% or so
Aftertaste: not as good as average-One hour after better
16/20-17/20 after 1 hour.

After the 63 C tried a glass of 70F(5 days on)-great by comparison. Must deeper
and with great taste.
Many people chase the First Growth Bordeaux but great port is the bomb.

I have to agree with this!

The bubbling up is usually the pressure difference inside the bottle that is escaping to the outside when the cork is slight pushed down or when you remove it and hear the pressure equalize. I highly doubt there is Co2 as it's fortified and there should not be secondary fermentation to cause it, or you've got serious other issues. You didn't mention what the fill level was on the bottle, but it sounds as if the cork was compromised and the bottle was prematurely oxidized due to a poor sealing cork. Even a little bit will change how it shows. A shame as I had a magnum of this last week that was amazing!

Andy:
I think the fill was below neck-very soft weak cork- but not oxidized-But can't
understand with the weak cork a pressure difference?
