TN: 2007 Cedro do Noval Duriense Red

This is a blend that features a few of the port grapes along with a good dose of Syrah (I haven't found the exact mix for 2007). Given the Syrah, it cannot be considered a Douro DOC wine. The stated ABV is 13.5%.
This wine is dark cherry pie all the way, from nose to palate. The dark cherry part sounds great, but when I say pie, I mean it is jammy. I'm not wild about jammy, and I certainly wasn't expecting it with only 13.5% ABV. This would be scary if it got over 14, I am thinking. Usually when I see or hear jammy mentioned, I run, anyway. And of course, I can taste some vanilla infused wood in this as well.
So this wine is not my bag, baby, needless to say. It's too bad, because I was really looking forward to this one. I don't hate it, but the combo of jam and vanilla drives me nuts.
